Job Title: Financial Services Tax - Real Estate Manager
Job Responsibilities:
As a Financial Services Tax - Real Estate Manager, the candidate will be part of a team dedicated to solving complex business issues, ranging from strategy to execution. The core responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on local and overseas tax affairs, acting as a strategic consultant in business analysis, managing working capital, and profit sharing for partners.
- Assisting organizations in understanding the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties and providing advice on tax implications of deals.
- Helping clients navigate the frequently changing and complex national and international tax environment, focusing on capital requirements, operational tax risks, and tax implications of investing in different jurisdictions.
- Developing new skills outside of the comfort zone and resolving issues that prevent the team from working effectively.
- Coaching team members, recognizing their strengths, and encouraging them to take ownership of their personal development.
- Analyzing complex ideas or proposals and building a range of meaningful recommendations.
- Using multiple sources of information, including broader stakeholder views, to develop solutions and recommendations.
- Addressing sub-standard work or work that does not meet the firm's/client's expectations.
- Using data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.
- Developing a point of view on key global trends and their impact on clients.
- Managing a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties.
- Simplifying complex messages, highlighting, and summarizing key points.
- Upholding the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.
Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor Degree
- Required Fields of Study: Accounting
- Minimum Years of Experience: 4 years
Certification(s) Required:
- CPA, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance-specific credentials may qualify for this opportunity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of tax compliance methods and strategy consulting for Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Real Estate Partnerships.
- Considerable knowledge of partnership structures and their impact on real estate transactions and corresponding tax liabilities.
- Experience in accounting for Unrelated Business Taxable Income.
- Comprehensive technical skills, including providing full services to real estate owners, developers, and investors, including publicly traded REITs, institutional real estate funds managed by financial institutions, and privately held real estate entities.
- Experience in identifying and addressing client needs, building and maintaining networks of client relationships and community involvement, communicating value propositions, managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing, and collections, and preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials.
- Experience as a team leader, supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust, seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation, and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
- Demonstrates success as a tax technical business advisor, developing new relationships, making introductions to sell new services, and doing so with a "One Firm" service mindset.
- Familiarity with a CRM system.
- Knowledge of automation & digitization in a professional services environment, including experimenting with digitization solutions, working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to clients, and utilizing digitization tools to reduce hours and optimize engagements.
- Knowledge of alternative fee arrangements, including the use of pricing tools to provide a point of view on pricing strategies.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $98,300 - $266,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range. Actual compensation within the range will depend on the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, holiday pay, vacation, personal and family sick leave, and more.
