Job Overview:

A leading law firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its nationally recognized Energy, Environmental, and Infrastructure practice. This role is ideal for individuals with 3 to 7 years of sophisticated transactional experience within the energy, natural resources, and infrastructure sectors. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects within a collaborative and forward-thinking team environment.

Duties:

  • Handle complex transactional matters involving the energy and natural resources sectors, including mergers and acquisitions, project development, and commercial agreements.

  • Advise clients on renewable energy transactions, such as build-to-transfer agreements, joint ventures, power purchase agreements (PPAs), operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements, shared facilities agreements, and procurement contracts.

  • Draft and negotiate engineering, procurement, and construction contracts (EPC) for renewable energy generation facilities.

  • Assist with financing transactions related to energy and natural resources projects.

  • Provide support on oil and gas transactions and regulatory matters as needed.

  • Collaborate closely with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to manage a variety of transactional projects.

  • Maintain responsibility for multiple active matters with a high degree of independence and accountability.

  • Foster long-term client relationships through strategic advice and superior service delivery.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of post-JD experience within a sophisticated law firm setting.

  • Hands-on experience managing complex energy, infrastructure, and renewable energy transactional work.

  • Familiarity with financing structures and commercial documentation within the energy sector.

  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project development, construction, and procurement processes.

  • Exposure to oil and gas matters is advantageous but not required.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues.

  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Strong sense of initiative, accountability, and professional judgment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one . jurisdiction.

  • Ability to obtain admission to the North Carolina bar if not already licensed.

Skills:

  • Advanced transactional drafting and negotiation capabilities.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering practical legal solutions.
