Job Title: Fall 2025 Law Clerk
Job Responsibilities:
The **Members Only** (OPD) offers law clerk positions within its twelve district offices across the state. Law clerks are tasked with a variety of responsibilities aimed at providing comprehensive defense for indigent clients facing felony and misdemeanor charges. The key responsibilities for law clerks include:
- Conducting legal research to support cases.
- Drafting and writing motions and memoranda.
- Engaging in case planning and strategizing.
- Assisting in investigations related to cases.
- Coordinating with witnesses for trials and hearings.
- Preparing for and participating in trials, hearings, and sentencing processes.
Law clerks work closely with a team of attorneys, investigators, paralegals, social workers, and other support staff. They play an integral role in ensuring that clients receive the highest standard of representation. Law clerks are expected to engage significantly in research, writing, witness preparation, investigations, and trial preparation.
Education and Experience Information:
The law clerk positions are open to current law students and recent law school graduates. The OPD offers these positions three times a year: during the spring semester (January-May), the fall semester (September-December), and the summer (May-August). Candidates interested in applying should be enrolled in law school or have recently graduated from a law school program.
