Job Title: Complex Claims Consultant - Financial Lines/Public D&O
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of highly complex litigated claims with significant exposures, requiring specialized technical expertise and coordination.
- Verify policy coverage, conduct thorough investigations, develop resolution strategies, and authorize disbursements within authority limits.
- Analyze complex coverage issues involving multiple coverages and coverage parts, requiring strong coverage acumen.
- Ensure exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claim, achieving quality and cycle time standards, and responding promptly to inquiries.
- Verify coverage and establish timely and adequate reserves by reviewing and interpreting policy language, and partner with coverage counsel on complex matters.
- Lead focused investigations to independently assess liability and damages by gathering pertinent information, such as contracts or other documents.
- Resolve claims by collaborating with internal and external business partners to develop and execute a claim resolution strategy.
- Manage claim budgets by achieving timely claim resolution and delivering high-quality service efficiently.
- Identify subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud occurrences and make referrals for further investigation.
- Achieve quality standards by appropriately managing each claim, ensuring accuracy, timely resolution, and proper documentation.
- Keep senior leadership informed of significant risks and losses by completing loss summaries and preparing succinct summaries for senior management.
- Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure compliance with state/local regulatory requirements.
- Mentor, guide, and develop less experienced Claim Professionals by delivering training.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Juris Doctorate preferred.
- Minimum of six years of relevant experience, preferably in Professional Liability claim handling or law firm experience handling Professional Liability matters.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
- Prior negotiation experience is required.
- Professional designations such as CPCU are preferred.
Salary Information:
In certain jurisdictions, the national base pay range for this job level is $72,000 to $141,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors such as relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
