Tax Manager - Private Equity
Job Responsibilities:
As a Tax Manager in the Private Equity sector, your primary responsibilities will involve providing tax compliance and advisory services to investment management clients. You will play a critical role in assisting clients with effective analysis, solution development, and implementation of their tax objectives. The position requires managing client relationships and delivering tax advisory services effectively. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing high-level reviews of tax research, partnership work papers, allocations, and tax filings
- Preparing and leading client meetings on compliance and advisory projects related to tax planning opportunities
- Discussing the tax implications of various transactions with clients
- Training, mentoring, and supervising new and experienced Tax Consultants and Tax Seniors
- Taking on lead client-contact roles
- Conducting billing and profitability analysis on engagements
- Involvement in marketplace eminence building and pursuits
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field. Candidates should possess at least 5 years of experience in providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in investment management or partnership taxation. Experience in managing projects, including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing, is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also necessary. Candidates should be able to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires co-location in person 2-3 days per week. The ability to travel up to 25% based on work requirements is also required.
Candidates must hold one of the following active accreditations:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
The following certifications are also preferred:
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
Preferred candidates would have previous experience with a Big 4 firm or large CPA firm equivalent, and knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers a variety of factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is between $93,660 to $213,200. It is important to note that it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, as compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. Additionally, candidates may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, where any award depends on factors such as individual and organizational performance.
