Duties:
- Lead and coordinate daily work activities of a small unit of attorneys or trial team.
- Train and instruct lower-level attorneys and interns.
- Provide guidance and oversight to attorneys, investigators, and legal support staff.
- Advise staff regarding complex/problem situations.
- Conduct initial case evaluations as assigned.
- Review case file and analyze the facts and evidence of the case.
- Assess client eligibility and needs.
- Review criminal histories.
- Determine the appropriateness of diversion, dismissal, or charges.
- Review accuracy of jurisdiction, venue, and scope of arrest powers.
- Ensure sufficient probable cause.
- Prepare or review charges and discovery.
- Prepare for arraignment.
- Investigate, analyze, and prepare assigned cases for hearings and trials.
- Interview clients in and out of custody.
- Request and inspect records and evidence.
- Prepare graphics and exhibits.
- Make investigative requests and follow up on leads.
- Obtain and review scientific results and analysis.
- Identify and interview witnesses and alibis.
- Observe crime scenes.
- Subpoena witnesses and prepare them for trial.
- Prepare clients for trial.
- Determine need for, procure, and interview expert witnesses.
- Assess need for psychological/psychiatric evaluation of client.
- Anticipate legal issues.
- Assist in the development of case strategies.
- Present cases to superiors.
Qualifications:
- required.
- Five years of experience practicing law in the area of assignment or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Must possess and maintain licensure from the Georgia State Bar Association.
Salary Information:
- Salary Range: $110k-$120k
