JOB TITLE: Environmental Associate Attorney
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Environmental Associate Attorney will be part of the Environment and Energy practice group at the law firm. Responsibilities include:
- Engaging in environmental regulatory work, administrative law, and natural resources law.
- Potentially participating in environmental litigation.
- Focusing on areas such as hazardous and solid waste, air quality, water quality, environmental remediations, and natural resources development.
- Interfacing directly with attorneys and clients to provide legal advice and support.
- Developing and implementing legal strategies to address client needs.
- Handling multiple projects effectively while maintaining high-quality work.
- Demonstrating strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exhibiting exceptional written and oral communication skills to convey complex legal information clearly.
- Exercising outstanding judgment in all professional activities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE INFORMATION
Candidates must have:
- A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
- Admission to the Colorado state bar for candidates based in Denver or to the Kansas and Missouri bars for candidates based in Kansas City. Candidates must be willing to take and pass the relevant state bar exams if not already admitted.
- At least 1 to 5 years of experience in environmental law or related fields such as administrative, energy, or natural resources law. Candidates without practical experience should demonstrate interest and coursework in these areas.
- Litigation experience is considered a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The position is generally sedentary, involving sitting most of the time with occasional need for inter-office mobility.
- Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs.
- Efficient communication skills are required.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions.
- Capability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, and read fine print or normal type size print.
SALARY INFORMATION
The compensation for the Environmental Associate Attorney ranges from $150,000 to $180,000, plus variable compensation based on individual production.
