A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a skilled Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will handle defense litigation matters related to workers’ compensation claims, advocating for employers and insurance carriers. They should have a strong understanding of Georgia workers’ compensation laws and procedures.

Duties:

  • Defend employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation cases before the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and appeals.
  • Prepare and represent clients at hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions.
  • Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including paralegals, support staff, and other attorneys.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on workers’ compensation issues.
  • Stay updated on changes in workers’ compensation laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Georgia State Bar in good standing.
  • Should have experience practicing in workers’ compensation defense or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Georgia workers’ compensation laws, procedures, and regulations.
  • Litigation experience including conducting hearings and trials.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
