Overview
**Members Only** is seeking an enthusiastic and results-oriented Vice President, IP Counsel with significant experience in patent licensing and litigation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of complex transactions within the Information Technology industry and be able to effectively collaborate with internal and external professionals to drive revenue for VideoLabs and its clients worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality IP cases to support licensing programs and engagements
- Ensure that VideoLabs maintains a "Best in Class" IP case development process
- Collaborate with new and existing internal/external subject matter experts
- Work with the VideoLabs leadership team to efficiently use case development resources and resolve issues
- Provide legal input and direction to the broader case development team
- Develop strong global liability and damages cases through rigorous review and analysis
- Collaborate with the Head of Acquisitions to identify and properly value high-quality patents
- Manage global patent litigation activities, including discovery and technology consulting services
- Provide oversight for budgets and financial plans for litigation matters
- Gain trust and confidence in the high-tech industry by acting professionally and in the best interest of VideoLabs and its partners
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of the industry, market trends, and available patents for purchase
Desired Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Engineering or science-based degree is a plus
- Active California Bar license desirable
- 8+ years patent litigation experience
- Litigation management and/or related experience is required
- 3+ years of IP licensing experience is required
- International litigation experience is beneficial
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with various levels of management
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to build effective relationships and present complex technical ideas clearly
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively on a team
- Sound legal and business judgment
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to quickly understand complex situations and information
- Fluent in English, knowledge of other languages is a plus
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time
