Director - Strategic Financing Services - Applications and Strategic Planning
Job Responsibilities:
The Director will be responsible for overseeing application and strategic planning activities for Community Development Entities (CDEs), Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), community lenders, and nonprofits. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the application and grant writing team, fostering a healthy team culture, and optimizing the NMTC allocation application process.
- Drafting and reviewing NMTC allocation applications, business strategies, community outcomes, and other narratives to maximize scoring and successful outcomes.
- Collaborating with clients to identify NMTC pipeline opportunities and synthesizing industry trends to support business strategies.
- Identifying and managing other grant and application writing opportunities to ensure quality and strategic alignment.
- Collaborating with deal team participants to secure commitments and support letters required for submissions.
- Designing and reviewing project proposals for investment opportunities.
- Establishing relationships with CDFIs, CDEs, and community stakeholders, and assisting clients with organizational framework formalization.
- Underwriting and structuring NMTC transactions and preparing sub-CDE certifications.
- Assisting organizations in meeting certification requirements and developing sustainable financial plans.
- Actively managing a pipeline of community development finance investing, lending, and growth initiatives.
- Collaborating with various teams to identify grant writing opportunities and enhance cross-industry initiatives.
- Coordinating with The Innovate Fund (TIF) and staff on strategic planning initiatives.
- Performing other job-related functions as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees such as a CPA license, MBA, JD, LLM, or other related certifications are preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in community development finance, tax credit finance, CDE/CDFI lending, structured finance, or a related field is required. The candidate should have knowledge of tax credit financing, with specific experience in NMTC preferred. Experience in working with borrowers, lenders, investors, and community development organizations is essential. Strong research, analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex issues are required. The candidate should also have expert knowledge of tax credit finance reporting, with specific experience in CDFI Fund’s AMIS reporting preferred.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $146,395 to $328,800. Individual salaries within this range are determined by various factors including the role, responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
