Law Student Volunteer, Spring 2026, National Security Cyber Section

Job Responsibilities
The National Security Cyber Section (NatSec Cyber) is seeking law student volunteers for its internship program. Interns will be responsible for conducting legal research and analysis, assisting with the drafting of motions and other pleadings, and supporting the creation of presentations and other materials. They will play a role in supporting NatSec Cyber’s efforts to combat cyber-enabled threats to national security. Interns are expected to work part-time (minimum of 16 hours per week) or full-time (minimum of 32 hours per week) during the academic year. It is important to note that NatSec Cyber does not offer remote internships, and interns are expected to work on-site.

Education and Experience
The internship is open to all law students, joint degree students, or . students who are . citizens and can obtain and maintain a security clearance. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited . law school at the time of their application and throughout the duration of their internship. The selection process favors candidates with strong analytical, research, and writing skills. Prior interest or experience in national security, criminal litigation, and internet, digital asset, or blockchain technology is highly preferred. Courses such as Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and Trial Practice are considered beneficial. Interns are prohibited from participating in another internship concurrently with their internship at NatSec Cyber.

Salary Information
This is an unpaid volunteer position. However, if the intern's school offers academic credit or work-study opportunities, NatSec Cyber will work with the intern to meet school requirements whenever possible.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter specifying the internship period they are interested in, a resume, a legal writing sample not exceeding ten pages, an unofficial law school transcript (if available), and contact information for three references. - Spring 2026: All students must apply by August 15, 2025.
- Summer 2026: Current 2L students must apply by December 15, 2025, and current 1L students must apply by December 15, 2025. Applications from 1L students will not be considered if submitted before December 1, 2025.
- Fall 2026: All students must apply by April 15, 2026.
