Job Title: Part-Time Attorney III (Benefits Eligible)

Job Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the Attorney III is responsible for supervising professional legal services of unusual difficulty and performing other legal services as assigned. This role may include supervising and reviewing the work of staff attorneys, as well as performing organizational and administrative duties. The position involves providing legal services in the offices of the Legal Advocate, Legal Defender, and Public Defender.

Essential Functions:
- Supervise and review work of staff attorneys
- Perform organizational and administrative duties
- Analyze, appraise, and organize facts, evidence, and precedents
- Render logical, clear, and effective written reports and oral arguments
- Determine alternative courses of action
- Present and argue cases in court and handle unanticipated problems smoothly
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Education and Experience Information:
The minimum qualifications for the Attorney III position include graduation from an accredited law school, admission to the State Bar of Arizona, and a minimum of four years of relevant legal experience. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and have the ability to be covered by county insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in criminal, appellate, and/or dependency case law.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of law, legal procedures and administrative proceedings, methods and practices of pleadings, judicial procedures, and the rules of evidence
- Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of management and supervision
- Considerable skill in analyzing, appraising, and organizing facts, evidence, and precedents, and rendering logical, clear, and effective written reports and oral arguments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Work Environment:
The work is primarily performed under general supervision in a typical office or court setting with appropriate climate controls.

Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate. The role involves light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and requires a good deal of walking, standing, or involves sitting most of the time. Mental application involves utilizing memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills.

Salary Information:
The anticipated hiring range for the Part-Time Attorney III position is to per hour, dependent upon qualifications. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including membership in the Arizona State Retirement System.
