Job Title: Tax Manager, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships

Job Responsibilities:

As a Tax Manager in the Specialized Tax Services Partnerships, you will be responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, specifically focusing on partnership taxation. Your key responsibilities will include:

- Advising clients on various partnership-specific items such as section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations, and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations.
- Applying your knowledge and experience to understand potential partnership taxation issues and assist in the preparation of partnership-specific computations.
- Actively participating in the leadership team of the STS Partnership Practice and contributing to the development of the group.
- Engaging in process improvement and team-building initiatives, maintaining client relationships, and acting as a source of guidance to other team members.

Tax Specialization:
- Maintaining and developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation.
- Participating in organizing and conducting effective external Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training sessions in your area of specialization.
- Training and mentoring associates, senior associates, and managers.

Research:
- Identifying when research is needed, clearly framing issues to be researched, and reporting the analysis.
- Identifying complex issues to be researched by the engagement team and providing research methodology for an efficient research process.
- Training associates and senior associates on research skills and helping to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis.
- Involving company specialists, as appropriate.

Tax Consulting:
- Assisting with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes.
- Applying the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions.
- Maximizing client benefits while managing risk and implementing applicable company strategies.
- Managing client expectations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervising associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Reviewing work prepared by associates and senior associates and providing review comments.
- Training associates and senior associates on how to use all current software tools.
- Acting as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
- Scheduling and managing the workload of associates and senior associates.
- Providing verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.

Experience:
- Five (5) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required.
- Specialized partnership experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferred.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.

Software:
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
