Law Firm Seeks Experienced Government Contracts Associate
Job Title: Government Contracts Associate
Salary: Competitive based on experience
Experience: At least 4-5 years in a law firm setting
Location: Flexible across our offices in Boston, East Brunswick, Hartford, Indianapolis, Miami, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Stamford, Trenton, Washington, DC, and Wilmington
The Chambers-ranked Government Contracts group at McCarter and English is seeking an experienced and proactive associate to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong analytical and writing skills who is interested in growing their career in government contracts law. We are looking for candidates with at least 4-5 years of experience in a law firm setting, particularly in areas such as bid protests, cybersecurity, acquisition regulation compliance, and federal subcontracting. A strong academic background is required and experience in industries such as aerospace/defense, infrastructure/construction, life sciences/pharmaceutical, and manufacturing is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and draft legal documents related to government contracts, including bid protests, claims, and compliance issues
- Provide counsel to clients on various government contracts matters
- Work independently on certain cases and collaborate with team members on others
- Attend client meetings and participate in client development activities
- Stay updated on current laws and regulations related to government contracts
- Prepare for and participate in litigation, if necessary
Requirements:
- At least 4-5 years of experience in a law firm setting, preferably with a focus on government contracts
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Knowledge of bid protests, cybersecurity, acquisition regulation compliance, and federal subcontracting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Virginia State Bar admission is highly preferred
- Interest in written and oral "thought leadership" and client development
- Flexibility to work in any of our office locations
- Strong academic background
