Job Title: Attorney (At-Will) - Criminal - Registry
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent the organization in the prosecution, defense, and resolution of civil and criminal cases.
- Assist in the prosecution of criminal and civil cases, review legal documents, and analyze case facts.
- Defend various classes of felony and misdemeanor cases, including complex criminal cases.
- Evaluate criminal cases, suggest investigation lines, trial tactics, legal motions, and appropriate dispositions.
- Review evidence, interview witnesses, prepare legal memoranda, select juries, and present cases in court.
- Conduct legal research and provide consultation on complex legal issues.
- Offer advice and counsel to County officials, employees, and clients in various legal fields including administrative, contract, tort, environmental, family, juvenile, immigration, real estate, regulatory, public records, tax issues, child support, and other public sector law fields.
- Represent the organization at arraignments, hearings, and trials, and manage assigned legal cases.
- Review and develop recommendations for legal decisions, policies, regulations, and other assigned legal matters.
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and customer records.
Education and Experience Information:
Attorney I:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited, ABA approved law school.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Valid Arizona State Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
- Candidates must have passed the Arizona bar examination or be awaiting admission to the bar.
Attorney II:
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Two years’ experience in practicing law.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Valid Arizona State Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
- Candidates must have passed the Arizona bar examination or be awaiting admission to the bar.
Attorney III:
- Juris Doctorate degree.
- Five years’ experience in practicing law.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
- Valid Arizona State Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
- Candidates must have passed the Arizona bar examination or be awaiting admission to the bar.
Salary Information:
- The salary for this position ranges from $82, to $167, annually, depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience. The exact position and salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications if selected.
- Attorney I: Pay Grade 15 - $82, - $107,072 annually.
- Attorney II: Pay Grade 17 - $88,128 - $131,166 annually.
- Attorney III: Pay Grade 20 - $107,174 - $167,537 annually.
Additional Information:
- The position is full-time and exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Employment is at-will and may be terminated at any time, for any reason, with or without cause.
