Job Title: Law Fellow
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop legal expertise in areas such as housing, labor and employment, environmental justice, education, and health.
- Engage in community education and provide direct legal assistance to LGBTQ+ individuals across several legal areas, including name and gender marker corrections, education and student rights, immigration, employment, housing, public benefits, and access to healthcare.
- Increase cultural competencies and substantive legal knowledge necessary to serve rural LGBTQ+ communities.
- Participate in comprehensive training and mentoring programs.
- Engage in sustained partnerships with rural community leaders, LGBTQ+ community centers, and other supportive organizations and agencies.
- Work closely with the organization during the fellowship application process to secure funding.
Education and Experience Information:
- Open to rising or current third-year law students and recent law graduates.
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to working with rural Californians and addressing the primary issues affecting their lives.
- Candidates are encouraged to identify law foundation, law school, and other postgraduate fellowships available to them.
