Job Overview:
A prominent law firm with a strong national and regional presence is seeking a Mid-Level Tax Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join its growing Corporate team. This role is ideal for an attorney with a background in federal tax matters and a passion for transactional work, particularly in industries such as energy, technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. The position offers an opportunity to work on complex tax structuring, renewable energy financing, and tax controversy matters while collaborating with experienced attorneys in a supportive, client-focused environment.

Location:

  • San Diego, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on federal tax implications of complex corporate transactions

  • Support tax structuring for mergers, acquisitions, equity and debt financings, and fund formations

  • Assist with renewable energy financing transactions and tax credit structures

  • Handle federal and state tax controversy matters

  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys to manage multi-layered projects

  • Draft tax-related documents, research memoranda, and client advisories

  • Stay current on developments in tax law affecting clients’ businesses

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in federal tax law, with exposure to both transactional and controversy matters

  • Experience with corporate transactions such as M&A, financings, and fund formations

  • Familiarity with renewable energy tax credit structures is highly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with team members

  • Strong client service orientation and commitment to quality legal work

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited . law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one . jurisdiction

  • Eligibility to practice in the state of the office location preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong legal research and drafting abilities

  • Sound judgment, initiative, and adaptability

  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to grow within a collaborative legal team

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively
