Job Title: Director, Corporate Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
The Director, Corporate Counsel at the company will have a crucial role in supporting the company's core business and enterprise operations. The primary responsibilities include providing legal guidance and contract review for the company's various business teams. The Director will also support the Privacy Legal Lane function within the company's Privacy Office, which involves ensuring legal privacy compliance, tracking new privacy regulations, and supporting other company initiatives. Specific duties include:
- Acting as the main privacy support attorney for multiple business teams.
- Providing thorough legal analysis and guidance on projects and initiatives, including the deployment of artificial intelligence.
- Offering proactive legal guidance on HIPAA, state privacy regulations, and other applicable laws.
- Acting as a strategic thought partner with business leadership to achieve business goals in a privacy-compliant manner.
- Collaborating with attorneys, compliance teammates, and business leaders to resolve legal matters related to data use and AI development.
- Providing privacy review, guidance, and negotiation on contracts and business associate agreements.
- Contributing to Privacy Office Legal Lane initiatives and projects, including privacy program and process improvements.
- Assisting in leading Privacy Legal Lane projects and coordinating legal guidance to operationalize privacy regulation requirements.
- Minimal travel is required, approximately 5%.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for the Director, Corporate Counsel position must meet the following education and experience requirements:
- Juris Doctorate degree with at least six years of relevant legal experience.
- Admission to at least one state bar and in good standing, with the ability to waive into Colorado if necessary.
- A minimum of three years of experience in privacy law is required.
- A CIPP or CIPM certification is preferable.
- Experience in healthcare, particularly with compliance with state and federal privacy laws such as HIPAA and HITECH, is desired.
- Experience in negotiating and drafting technology contracts, data agreements, and other healthcare-related legal documents is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of maturity, professionalism, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Director, Corporate Counsel position is between $110, and $161, per year. Compensation will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
