Job Title: 2L Summer Associate for 2026
Job Responsibilities:
The 2L Summer Associate position at the law firm's Anchorage office involves engaging in a variety of legal tasks and professional development activities. The primary responsibilities include:
- Working on challenging client matters, specifically within the Regulatory Affairs department, which provides substantive work opportunities.
- Collaborating closely with attorneys practicing in the Regulatory Affairs area to gain practical legal experience.
- Developing and honing legal writing skills through various assignments and projects.
- Representing pro bono clients, contributing to community service and gaining diverse legal experience.
- Attending client meetings, depositions, closings, and court appearances to observe and learn from real-world legal proceedings.
- Receiving formal feedback and mentoring from experienced attorneys to aid in professional growth and development.
- Participating in seminars and training events hosted by Dorsey U, the law firm's in-house professional development group.
- Establishing meaningful professional relationships with summer associate colleagues and law firm attorneys through networking and social events.
Education and Experience Information:
The law firm seeks 2L students who demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, ambition, and a diversity of perspectives, experiences, and interests. Preferred candidates should have a record of strong academic achievement. Additionally, experience in law review, journal, or moot court is preferred, as it indicates a candidate's commitment to and proficiency in legal research and writing.
Salary Information:
The pay for the 2L Summer Associate position is $2,880 per week in Alaska. It is important to note that this is a temporary position and does not include eligibility for benefits.
