We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual for the newly-created position of Intellectual Property Counsel to join our team and support Fortive's Advanced Healthcare Solutions (AHS) segment, including **Members Only** (ASP).

Job Description:

The Intellectual Property Counsel will report to the Vice President, General Counsel and will play a critical role in protecting patients during their most critical moments. The successful candidate will lead on Fortive's "Fortive 9" set of core behaviors, including customer-obsession, adaptability, delivering results, and innovation for impact. They will also collaborate with the Research & Development (R&D) team to manage the invention disclosure process and conduct thorough freedom to operate analyses for new product development. Additionally, the Intellectual Property Counsel will develop and implement a comprehensive IP strategy that aligns with Fortive's business goals and monitor competitive IP portfolios and products.

Responsibilities:

- Leadership Behaviors: Embrace Fortive's mission to protect patients, engage proactively with positivity and a sense of urgency, and join and actively engage with the ASP Legal & Compliance leadership team.
- New Product Development: Collaborate with the R&D team to manage the invention disclosure process and conduct thorough freedom to operate analyses for new product development.
- IP Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive IP strategy that aligns with Fortive's business goals and monitor competitive IP portfolios and products.
- Operations: Manage and oversee outside counsel in the prosecution of patent applications and implement a virtual patent marking program.
- Transactional: Perform IP due diligence on potential acquisition targets and advise business development teams on IP matters related to partnerships and other transactions.

Requirements:

- JD or equivalent from an accredited university, licensed and in good standing with a state bar.
- Admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in IP law with a focus on patent law and practice. Experience in the medical device industry is helpful.
- Unquestioned integrity and excellent judgment.

Pay Range:

The salary range for this position (inclusive of sales incentives/commission) is $164, - $305,. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location.
