Job Responsibilities:
The Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel at the company will serve as a prominent leader, providing legal advice on privacy, technology development, cybersecurity, incident response, data governance, and artificial intelligence (AI) matters. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of privacy attorneys and professionals, guiding them on legal issues and contributing to their career development.
- Participating as a member of risk committees and executive leadership for firm projects, influencing strategy with executive stakeholders.
- Keeping updated on privacy laws and regulations such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Regulation S-P, California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Developing and maintaining privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines aligning with legal requirements and industry best practices and educating employees on these policies.
- Creating and delivering privacy training programs to raise awareness of privacy-related risks and best practices.
- Maintaining and enhancing procedures for responding to privacy incidents, coordinating with stakeholders like Cybersecurity and Technology teams for incident response.
- Advising on fulfilling data subject rights and collaborating with Technology and Data Governance teams to manage these rights efficiently.
- Drafting and negotiating provisions for commercial and technology contracts, collaborating with the Commercial Contracts team on privacy and data protection standards.
- Serving as the primary contact for privacy inquiries from regulatory authorities, customers, and stakeholders.
- Acting as the legal leader for AI matters, participating in AI Governance Committee, and staying updated on AI developments.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a nationally accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one . jurisdiction.
- Over 15 years of experience counseling on privacy and cybersecurity laws in the financial services industry, preferably with experience in a broker-dealer or registered investment advisor setting.
- Experience at a law firm or company within the financial services industry.
- Strong organizational and project management skills for handling multiple projects and managing deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for influencing others without direct authority.
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with senior management and adaptability to take on new tasks.
Salary Information:
The pay range for this position is $207,075 to $345,125 per year. The actual base salary varies based on factors including relevant skills, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
