Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Irvine, CA, is actively seeking an associate attorney with 3-7 years of experience to join its nationally recognized practice focused on energy, environmental, and infrastructure matters. The role involves handling high-stakes transactions across renewable energy, natural resources, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in both traditional and emerging areas of energy law, capable of managing multifaceted deal structures, and comfortable navigating commercial and development agreements.

Duties:

  • Lead and support complex transactions in the energy and natural resources sector, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures

  • Draft and negotiate key project development and commercial agreements, including:

    • Power purchase agreements (PPAs)

    • Operation & maintenance (O&M) agreements

    • Shared facilities agreements

    • Procurement contracts for materials and equipment

  • Participate in renewable energy development deals, including build-to-transfer arrangements and multi-party agreements

  • Assist with drafting and reviewing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts for energy generation projects

  • Contribute to financing arrangements and strategic partnerships in energy-related sectors

  • Advise clients operating within the oil and gas markets as applicable

  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with legal teams across corporate, regulatory, and environmental practice areas

  • Manage simultaneous workstreams and ensure timely delivery of high-quality legal work

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-7 years of post-JD legal experience (7 years maximum)

  • Significant exposure to complex transactional matters in a major law firm or a similarly demanding legal environment

  • Familiarity with renewable energy markets and their associated legal frameworks

  • Understanding of construction, engineering, and procurement aspects in project development

  • Ability to work independently and lead on specific workstreams while integrating with broader deal teams

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional judgment

  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting with shifting priorities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in good standing in at least one . jurisdiction

  • Eligibility for admission to the California Bar (if not already a member) is preferred

Skills:
