Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Newport Beach, CA, is seeking a seasoned attorney with a strong aptitude for discovery in complex family law litigation. This opportunity is ideal for a professional who thrives on in-depth analysis, strategic negotiation, and document-driven legal work, particularly in the context of high-asset divorces and financial disputes.

Duties:

• Collaborate with litigation teams and financial consultants to develop discovery strategies in family law matters

• Examine and interpret financial records and other documents obtained through discovery processes

• Manage all phases of discovery, including drafting, responding, and analyzing discovery requests

• Participate in meet-and-confer discussions to resolve disputes or narrow discovery issues

• Conduct and defend depositions as part of ongoing litigation

• Appear in court to advocate on discovery motions when disputes cannot be resolved informally

• Work closely with in-house financial experts and litigation support staff to assess case needs and prepare for trial or settlement

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of family law litigation experience, with a concentration in discovery

• Proficiency in handling high-volume, detail-intensive document review and analysis

• Familiarity with local court rules and procedural nuances in family law litigation

• Experience managing communications with opposing parties regarding discovery disputes

• Demonstrated ability to draft persuasive motions and argue effectively in court

Education:

• Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and good standing membership with the California State Bar

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and research capabilities

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing financial data

• Effective communicator, both in writing and orally, especially in adversarial settings

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines independently

• Skilled at working collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams
