Summary: Disability Rights Maryland (DRM) is seeking a civil rights attorney for the role of Managing or Assistant Managing Attorney. The selected candidate will be responsible for promoting and advancing the legal and human rights of people with disabilities, and will directly supervise the legal work of staff attorneys, paralegals, and advocates. The available role(s) include managing and supporting a team of 2 advocates and 2-4 attorneys in the Housing Team, which focuses on preventing evictions, investigating fair housing violations, and monitoring compliance with settlement agreements. The position may involve some remote work and travel throughout the State of Maryland. Responsibilities for this position include participating in DRM's management team to plan and execute organizational goals and objectives, collaborating with external coalitions and organizations, and supervising the maintenance of program information necessary for grant reports and audits. The selected candidate will also provide supervision and guidance to staff, monitor and review their work, and may engage in individual casework and other advocacy initiatives. Minimum qualifications for this position include a . degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in Maryland, and a demonstrated commitment to DRM's core mission. Preferred qualifications include knowledge and experience with relevant laws and regulations, as well as experience working with and/or sensitivity to individuals with disabilities and from diverse communities. The salary for this position is competitive and depends on experience, with the annual salary range for an Assistant Managing Attorney with 5-7 years' experience between $80,760 and $83,140, and for a Managing Attorney with 5-7 years' experience between $82,760 and $85,140. DRM also offers a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement savings opportunities, and generous paid time off. While DRM offers some flexibility in work hours and location, the general schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work. DRM is a private, non-profit law firm and the Congressionally mandated Protection and Advocacy organization for individuals with disabilities in Maryland.
