A law firm in Walnut Creek, CA, seeks a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with experience or a demonstrated interest in family law. The successful candidate will execute case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, and manage high-level/high-asset cases. The ideal candidate must have a . degree and be an active member of the State Bar of California. Candidates awaiting Bar results will have a starting salary of $80,000 until active admission.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to execute case strategies.
  • Manage high-level/high-asset cases by maintaining contact with involved parties, preparing for depositions, reviewing court documents, drafting letters, writing and reviewing discovery, preparing responses to opposing counsel, and generating status reports.
  • Support case planning by preparing summaries and materials for settlement conferences, preparing pleadings, monitoring discovery responses, and organizing materials for case review.
  • Communicate effectively internally and with clients and opposing counsel to progress through the case process.
  • Assist in trial proceedings by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, and ensuring witnesses are ready/prepared when needed.
  • Attend court proceedings in person and virtually as needed to represent clients.
  • Participate in business development and networking functions with firm leadership.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the State Bar of California (candidates awaiting Bar results considered).
  • Experience in or demonstrated interest in family law.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and other legal-related technology applications.
  • Exposure to or experience using Judicial Counsel Forms preferred.
