A law firm in San Diego, CA is currently seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Attorney to join their team. The Labor and Employment Attorney will play a vital role in the firm, handling a wide range of responsibilities related to trial and arbitration experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in discrimination, harassment, retaliation claims, FLSA and wage and hour claims, and legal research. Additionally, the candidate should possess the ability to provide advice and counsel to employers on federal and state employment law compliance, including COVID-related laws, ADA/FEHA compliance, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and other employee leave compliance. Experience in labor relations, including negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations, is also advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate excellent academic credentials, and outstanding analytical, research, and writing skills, along with a strong work ethic and dedication to superior client service.

 

Duties:

  • Handle trial and arbitration experience, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims, FLSA, and wage and hour claims.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
  • Take and defend depositions and manage discovery-related activities.
  • Draft EEOC position statements, DFEH responses, and conduct witness interviews and depositions.
  • Provide advice and counsel to employers on federal and state employment law compliance.
  • Address ADA/FEHA compliance and disability accommodation issues.
  • Manage labor relations matters, including negotiations, grievances, and arbitrations.
  • Handle MMBA compliance, PERB/NLRB litigation, and administrative hearings and appeals.

 

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of substantive experience in employment litigation.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Knowledge of California employment law.
  • Ability to work independently.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Relevant certifications in employment law (if applicable).
