POSITION: In-House Legal Associate

Location: Corporate Office in Franklin, TN

Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday 8am-5pm


Job Description:

Company is seeking an experienced In-House Legal Associate to join their team. The In-House Legal Associate will be responsible for preparing contracts, overseeing responses to requests for proposals and invitations to bid, drafting and negotiating new contracts, amendments, and letters of understanding with clients, and reviewing and negotiating vendor contracts. The In-House Legal Associate must also review corporate documentation and oversee outside counsel handling potential and pending litigation.

Essential Functions:

- Preparation of all contracts
- Prepare program overviews and oversee responses to requests for proposals and invitations to bid
- Draft and negotiate new contracts, amendments, and letters of understanding with clients
- Review and negotiate vendor contracts
- Review corporate documentation
- Oversee outside counsel handling potential and pending litigation
- Any and all other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 . to 5 . Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

This position occasionally requires travel.

Required Education and Experience:

- Juris Doctorate
- Attorney licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee.
- Strong legal writing skills including excellent attention to detail
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to devise creative solutions for complex issues
- The ability to work under multiple strict deadlines in a high stress environment without sacrificing courteousness
- The ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Trustworthy, confident, and responsible when handling or presenting sensitive information
- Strong Microsoft Office, Internet, and email skills
- Must be able to drive a motor vehicle
