Our organization is devoted to promoting free enterprise, inclusive economic growth, and the right to rational, responsive, and properly limited government. We aim to educate law students in public interest law from a free enterprise perspective, while providing them with valuable legal work experience and increasing their knowledge of the law. Goals of NELF's Law Student Internship Program: - Educate law students in public interest law from a free enterprise perspective - Provide law students with exposure to the private legal community - Increase law students' knowledge of the law and build their professional confidence - Provide experience in working for a not-for-profit public interest law firm - Increase NELF's capacity while developing interns' research and writing skills Activities for law student interns may include: - Researching statutes, regulations, cases, and other legal material - Drafting pleadings, appellate and trial court memoranda, and briefs - Assisting with general litigation activities - Conducting legal research for seminars and publications - Attending meetings relevant to their assigned cases and issues Law student interns will be selected by NELF attorneys and the positions are unpaid. However, our interns gain valuable experience and exposure to law firm operations and client and constituent interactions. We prefer applicants in their second or third year of law school, but will consider exceptional first-year students.
