VP & Associate General Counsel - Specialty & Financial Lines:

- Responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to the Financial Lines Business Unit
- Reports to the Senior Vice President, Head of Legal for . Businesses
- Direct oversight of the Specialty Legal team, including 8 attorneys
- Strategic partner to the Head of Specialty and Specialty business unit leadership
- Provides legal, regulatory, and transactional support to all Specialty business units
- Requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
- Minimum of 15 years of related legal work experience with deep expertise in Financial Lines
- In certain jurisdictions, national base pay range is $182,000 to $290,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:

- Strategic and tactical legal counseling for Specialty underwriting and operational teams
- Product development guidance and support
- Management and mitigation of legal, compliance, and regulatory risks
- Timely and accurate responses to business regarding legal, regulatory, and transactional issues
- Leadership and talent management of lawyers supporting Specialty business units
- Review of external communication materials and training development
- Maintaining current knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and compliance developments
- Participation in market conduct exams and investigation of consumer complaints
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with third party service providers
- Collaboration and partnership with internal business clients and leadership team
- Effective communication and presentation of complex topics
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to interpret, negotiate, and draft complex contracts
- Prioritization, management, and delegation of assignments

Skills and Experience:

- Demonstrated leadership and change management skills
- Significant experience in the insurance industry and related disciplines
- Knowledge of CNA products and services, as well as competitor products and services
- Ability to partner with and support the growth and development of the Specialty business
- Experience as a trusted advisor with internal business clients and sophisticated leadership team
- Effective communication and relationship building with internal and external partners
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to interpret, negotiate, and draft complex contracts
- Prioritization, management, and delegation of assignments
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
- Ability to model CNA's leadership behaviors and value diverse opinions and ideas
- JD and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction required
- Minimum of fifteen years of related legal work experience in key specialties
- Prior experience managing a sizeable team strongly preferred
