A law firm in Palo Alto, CA, is seeking a talented Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to join their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics and have demonstrated expertise in patent application preparation and prosecution. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience, with a strong background in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting and amending claims and specifications.
  • Conduct comprehensive technical analyses and evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Perform prior art searches and assess patentability of inventions.
  • Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop and refine patent strategies and portfolios.
  • Draft and review patent-related documents, including responses to office actions and other correspondence.
  • Advise clients on intellectual property matters, including patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate issues.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in patent laws and industry-specific technical advancements.
  • Provide technical support during patent litigation and other intellectual property disputes.
  • Manage multiple patent prosecution projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient completion.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • Proven technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Strong skills in patent application preparation and prosecution.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.

Certifications:

  • Registration with the USPTO is required.
