Job Overview:

The Patent Engineer or Agent will play a vital role in the firm's patent prosecution activities, requiring expertise in electrical engineering, video processing, and related technologies. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution activities with a focus on video processing and video codecs.
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic guidance on patent-related matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to conduct patent analysis and opinions of counsel.
  • Participate in inter partes reviews (IPRs) and other post-grant proceedings.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies such as virtual/augmented reality and AI.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of prosecution experience in a firm or in-house.
  • Familiarity with video coding standards and related technologies.
  • Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree preferred.
  • Admission to the USPTO is advantageous.
  • Experience with patent analysis and opinions of counsel is a plus.
