Job Summary:
McDermott Will & Emery, a leading global law firm, is seeking a 3rd to 5th-year Associate to join their growing Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Group in one of their offices in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Washington, DC. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of privacy, security, and data-related compliance counseling for clients in the US. This includes advising on priorities, risks, and implementation of compliance programs, managing compliance projects, developing policies and procedures, and negotiating contracts and M&A deals. The Associate will also be responsible for managing complex privacy and cybersecurity matters and supervising junior lawyers.

Responsibilities:
- Provide practical advice and guidance to clients on state, federal, and non-US privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Assist clients in determining priorities, risks, and implementing data protection compliance programs.
- Manage compliance projects such as risk and gap assessments.
- Develop policies and procedures, including privacy policies, security policies, incident response plans, and vendor contracting templates.
- Negotiate contracts and M&A deals.
- Manage complex privacy and cybersecurity workstreams.
- Proactively identify issues and supervise junior lawyers.
- Prioritize workload with competing demands and exercise good judgment.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of practical privacy/data protection/cybersecurity counseling experience.
- Excellent management and organizational skills.
- Experience building and managing teams.
- Ability to prioritize workload and frame advice and analysis practically based on risks.
- Capable of working in a collaborative environment.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex matters.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Experience in a large law firm preferred (boutique specialists may be considered).
- Technical experience relevant to cybersecurity counseling is a plus but not mandatory.
- Certified Information Privacy Professionals are preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction where applying.

Expected Pay Range for Associates:
- 2024/2023 Class Compensation Years: $225,000
- 2022 Class Compensation Years: $235,000
- 2021 Class Compensation Years: $260,000
- 2020 Class Compensation Years: $310,000
- 2019 Class Compensation Years: $365,000
- 2018 Class Compensation Years: $390,000
- 2017 Class Compensation Years: $420,000
- 2016 and more senior class compensation years: $435,000
