Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated and experienced Associate Attorney to join its Ontario, CA office, specializing in workers’ compensation defense. This hybrid role allows a self-motivated legal professional to take ownership of a caseload while collaborating with a skilled team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication abilities, excellent legal research and writing skills, and a high level of comfort working in a paperless environment. Duties

  • Manage a portfolio of active workers' compensation defense cases from initiation to resolution.
  • Maintain regular and proactive communication with clients, ensuring they are informed at every stage.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, discovery responses, and case summaries.
  • Represent clients in depositions, hearings, and other proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research to develop case strategies and identify legal precedents.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth file management and case progression.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and legal developments.
  • Maintain accurate digital case files within the firm’s paperless system.
  • Ensure compliance with all court deadlines, procedural requirements, and client service standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience, ideally with a focus on workers' compensation defense.
  • Strong knowledge of California workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a paperless office environment, utilizing legal technology for case management and document storage.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide responsive, client-centered legal service.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
