Corporate Attorney - Provide legal advice and guidance to a publicly traded financial institution in the banking, investment, and insurance industries. Salary Range: $95, to $125, annually Job Title: Corporate Counsel Experience: 5+ years of legal and general corporate experience, preferably with a license to practice law in New York State Location: Buffalo, NY or Rochester, NY Department: Office of General Counsel Reports To: Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary FLSA Status: Exempt The Corporate Counsel will serve as a key legal and strategic advisor, collaborating with senior business leaders across the enterprise to mitigate legal risks and advance corporate goals and objectives. They will provide proactive and timely legal advice and guidance, conduct legal research and analysis, negotiate and interpret contracts, and advise on corporate, labor and employment, and governance matters. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with business leaders to manage legal risks and advance corporate goals and objectives - Provide proactive and timely legal advice and guidance - Conduct legal research and analysis and advise on solutions to mitigate legal risk - Negotiate, prepare, interpret, and advise on contractual matters - Advise on corporate, labor and employment, and governance matters - Prepare legal documents and disclosures - Manage litigation, insurance claims, and contingent liability disclosures - Champion process improvements to mitigate legal risk - Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality - Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders Qualifications: - Juris Doctor degree - 5+ years of legal and general corporate experience - License to practice law in New York State - Strong negotiation and advocacy skills - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines - High ethical standards and confidentiality - Strong communication skills Physical Requirements: - Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time - Occasional travel required - Extensive computer usage This job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned.
