Title: Paralegal - Legal Assistance for Victimized Adults (LAVA) Project
Location: Statewide, Indiana
Organization: Indiana Legal Services, Inc. (ILS)
Salary: Starting at $39,722 with a range up to $52,724, depending on experience and qualifications

Position Summary:
The Paralegal will support the LAVA Project by providing assistance to attorneys in delivering high-quality legal representation and advice to eligible clients. This includes conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and correspondence, and conducting client intake and interviews. The Paralegal will also assist with outreach events and maintain positive relationships with community partners.

Responsibilities:
- Assist LAVA Project staff attorneys in a variety of civil cases
- Draft pleadings and correspondence
- Conduct legal research
- Complete intakes for the LAVA Project
- Provide victim-centered, trauma-informed services to victims of crime throughout Indiana
- Conduct outreach to other agencies to educate them about available services and promote referrals
- Maintain positive relationships with community partners
- Monitor and complete grant reporting requirements
- Work in a team with the LAVA Project staff

Qualifications:
- Professional and organized with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and quick to learn new software
- Team-oriented and able to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent case management skills and ability to shift focus and priorities as needed
- Experience working with low-income individuals and those with diminished capacity preferred
- Diverse economic, social, and cultural experiences preferred
- College degree and paralegal certification preferred
- Available transportation and ability to travel throughout the state as needed
