Regions, a leading financial institution, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Attorney to join their legal team in Birmingham, Alabama. In this role, the Assistant General Counsel will provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients and colleagues on complex legal issues related to business and banking matters. The Legal Department at Regions is dedicated to attracting, retaining, and developing top talent, and is currently pursuing the Mansfield certification.

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice and guidance to business units and executive leadership on complex business and banking matters
- Stay informed on emerging legislative developments that may affect the bank and provide strategic, pragmatic, and expert legal advice to mitigate risk
- Manage outside counsel and legal budgets
- Train bankers, associates, and operational staff on legal issues
- Mentor legal staff and serve as a resource for colleagues
- Act as a direct partner to the bank's Commercial Problem Assets and Collections functions

Requirements:

- Law degree
- Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
- 10+ years of legal experience in regulatory agency, financial services industry, or law firm
- Strong knowledge of bank regulations or other relevant practical legal experience

- Ability to build strong partnerships with senior leadership
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Expert analytical, research, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
