Job Overview:

A well-regarded law firm is seeking a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Junior Associate with 2-3 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in privacy incident response, compliance counseling, and privacy litigation, with familiarity in key federal and state privacy laws. Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Provide legal support on privacy incident responses and risk management efforts.
  • Counsel clients on compliance with privacy regulations such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state-specific biometric and health laws.
  • Participate in privacy litigation matters and work on developing strategies to address privacy-related legal challenges.
  • Draft and review privacy-related contracts, policies, and data protection agreements.
  • Stay informed of evolving privacy laws and offer guidance on their implementation and impact.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to support clients in managing privacy risks and obligations.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related practice areas.
  • Knowledge of privacy incident response, risk management, compliance counseling, and privacy litigation.
  • Familiarity with state and federal privacy regulations, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric privacy laws.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases efficiently and effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification required (if not already certified, must obtain within one year of hire).
  • Admission to the State Bar in the jurisdiction where the associate will be working.

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of work and complex matters simultaneously.
