Consumer Finance Special Counsel The candidate will handle regulatory counseling and drafting principally related to federal and state consumer lending laws, licensing requirements, Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Credit Billing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, compliance management systems, money transmission, anti-money laundering, prudential banking regulations, Fin-Techs, cryptocurrency and other digital assets, and unfair trade practice and consumer protection laws. Should have a JD from an ABA-approved law school and be in good standing and an active member of the Bar of the jurisdiction where admitted to practice. Must have 5+ years of relevant regulatory experience. Should ideally have experience in a number of the aforementioned consumer lending or finance areas - in particular as it relates to compliance counseling for lenders, servicers and/or consumer reporting agencies. Must have solid/significant consumer finance experience, including experience with advising bank and non-bank financial institutions, negotiating and drafting contracts, preparation of consumer and/or commercial lending documents, state and federal regulatory interpretation, and licensing requirements. Specific experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act is highly preferred. Timely admission to the CA State Bar will be a condition of employment. Application Deadline: June 30, 2024.
