Job Summary:

The GEICO Staff Counsel is seeking a PIP Attorney for a hybrid role in Miami, FL. This position will involve defending PIP lawsuits and other first-party insurance defense matters in Miami courts.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct legal research and draft legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Provide opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
- Defend matters assigned by trial or dispositive hearing.
- Travel as required, including attending trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

- 0-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Juris Doctor degree.
- Admission to the Florida Bar.
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Florida and meet all licensing requirements.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and resolve conflicts.
- Strong organization and multitasking skills.
- Ability to learn and apply technical and procedural information.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Civil litigation experience.
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
- Strong professional communication skills.

Location:

This position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week at the local staff counsel office and in-person attendance at hearings.
