Job Overview: A law firm in Las Vegas, NV, is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Counsel/Partner to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advising on employee benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, fiduciary governance, and benefits issues in transactions, with a preference for ESOP transactions. This role requires a Juris Doctorate (JD) and licensure to practice law in PA, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. A book of business is considered advantageous.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on a wide range of employee benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, and fiduciary governance.
  • Advise clients on benefits issues arising in transactions, including ESOP transactions.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including plan documents, contracts, and agreements.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and other legal proceedings related to employee benefits matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in NV.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience advising on employee benefits matters.
  • Demonstrated experience with qualified retirement plans is required.
  • Experience with health and welfare plans is preferred.
  • Experience advising on compensation and benefits issues in transactions is required.
  • Experience with executive compensation is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, IRC, ACA, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Business development skills and a proven track record of client retention and growth.
