## Paralegal - Housing Stability **Organization** is seeking a paralegal for its Statewide Housing Stability program to assist with serving eligible clients threatened with loss of their housing, housing subsidies, as well as statewide clinics and outreach. **Job Title:** Paralegal - Housing Stability **Location:** Statewide **Salary:** Depending upon experience **Employment Type:** Hourly, Full Time **Benefits:** Comprehensive benefits package and generous holiday and leave package **Deadline:** Until filled - Resumes will be reviewed on a rolling basis. ### Job Description New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) provides civil legal services to low-income New Mexicans for a variety of legal issues including domestic violence/family law, consumer protection, housing, and benefits. NMLA has locations throughout the state including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Gallup, Roswell, Silver City, Clovis, Hobbs, Las Vegas, Taos, and Santa Ana. The Paralegal under the direction of the managing attorney will assist the attorneys with: * Litigation Support * Eviction prevention * Habitability * Reasonable accommodations * Subsidized housing * Low Income housing Tax Credit * Other housing related work * Designing statewide clinics and outreach programs The duties of the housing stability Paralegal will be: * Process intakes. * Draft pleadings. * Contact clients. * Support attorneys in preparation for court. * Send referrals to other support service agencies. * Engage in outreach. * Arrange and assist with legal clinics. ### Qualifications * At least three years' experience as a Paralegal is preferred but will consider exceptionally well qualified entry level candidates. * Should have or quickly be able to develop, expertise in housing and statewide resources available to low-income persons. * Must be able to effectively use computer technology and remote communications systems, including shared on-line workspaces and web meeting and videoconferencing software * Be able to effectively collaborate with staff located in multiple offices. * Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. * The ability to manage multiple tasks and build collaborative relationships within the staff and the community served by NMLA. * This is a statewide position and the candidate must be able to regularly travel. * Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
