Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated and driven Employment Law Associate Attorney to join its growing plaintiff-focused practice. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and ready to take on significant responsibilities, including managing cases from start to finish, client interaction, and drafting legal documents. While prior experience in employment law is a plus, it is not required. The firm is open to considering candidates who are awaiting bar results, provided they can contribute meaningfully to the team's success.

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload of employment law cases, including advancing cases through litigation
  • Draft and file complaints, responses, and motions
  • Conduct discovery, including drafting interrogatories and requests for documents
  • Defend depositions and represent clients in hearings or court proceedings
  • Build strong client relationships through direct contact and regular communication
  • Work closely with senior attorneys, receiving mentorship as needed
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as desired

Requirements:

  • JD (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership or eligibility to take the bar exam and work in California
  • 1-3 years of legal experience preferred, though candidates awaiting bar results may also apply
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage deadlines efficiently
  • Self-motivated and proactive in taking ownership of tasks

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain membership in the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and drafting abilities
  • Familiarity with discovery processes and law and motion procedures
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience or interest in employment law is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals
  • Proficiency in Westlaw and other legal research tools
