**Job Summary**

The successful candidate will have a focus on compliance counseling, site remediation cost recovery strategy, and related litigation, transactional due diligence, and contract/agreement drafting.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

- Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on environmental compliance and litigation matters.
- Research and analyze legal issues in the environmental field.
- Represent clients before regulatory agencies.
- Draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
- Negotiate settlements and other resolutions for clients.
- Assist with appellate and other legal matters.
- Work collaboratively with other departments.

**Qualifications and Skills**

- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Must be a member in good standing of the New Jersey and New York Bar.
- 3-7 years of experience in environmental compliance and environmental-related litigation matters at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Experience representing clients before regulatory agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the Environmental Protection Agency, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, and the New York Department of Health.
- Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.
- Ability to research and analyze legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
