JOB TITLE: Staff Attorney

LOCATION: Lower Eastern Shore, Salisbury, MD, US

SALARY: $74,575 - $115,112 per year, based on experience

EXPERIENCE: 1+ years of legal experience required

JOB SUMMARY:

- Provide life-changing civil legal assistance to low-income and marginalized individuals and communities in Maryland
- Handle all aspects of casework, from initial intake to representation in court
- Collaborate with other attorneys, law graduates, and community partners
- Maintain case files and participate in community outreach and education

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Screen clients for eligibility and make referrals as needed
- Conduct interviews, investigations, and legal research
- Advise clients and develop case strategies
- Draft pleadings and represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and trials
- Participate in outreach and education efforts
- Continue professional development through training and other programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Juris Doctorate (.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in Maryland or eligible for admission
- Knowledge of civil law, judicial procedures, and rules of evidence
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Office setting with some community work
- Regular use of technology and communication tools
