Job Title: Staff Attorney – Veterans Advocacy Project Organization: Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) Experience: JD from accredited university, licensed to practice law in Texas, experience working with low-income populations and veterans, and fluency in English and Spanish Salary: Commensurate with experience TRLA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our Veterans Advocacy Project. This full-time position will provide extended civil services to veterans in a wide range of legal matters. The successful candidate will work closely with community partners to ensure integrated services and address systemic barriers facing veterans. Duties and Responsibilities: - Evaluate clients' claims and assess civil legal remedies - Provide direct representation to clients in all stages of litigation and advocacy - Counsel individuals seeking civil legal assistance - Establish and maintain relationships with community partners - Support civil legal services for veterans throughout the 68-county TRLA service area - Participate, organize, and lead education and outreach efforts to the community about legal issues facing low-income veterans and their families Qualifications and Preferences: - JD from accredited university - Licensed to practice law in Texas or willing to take the next available Texas bar exam - Dedication to and experience in serving low-income populations - Experience working with veterans and community partners - Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken Compensation and Benefits: - Salary commensurate with experience - Excellent fringe benefits package, including law school loan repayment, generous paid leave, healthcare insurance, retirement plan, and training and travel stipends TRLA is an Equal Opportunity Employer: At TRLA, we are committed to providing fair and equal employment opportunities to all job applicants and employees.
