## Paralegal - Housing Stability

**Organization** New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) is a statewide civil legal services provider to low-income New Mexicans. NMLA is committed to providing justice to those who otherwise would not have access to it.

**Job Title**: Paralegal – Housing Stability

**Location**: Statewide, with a preference for Albuquerque office

**Compensation**: Depending upon experience, a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

**Job Type**: Full Time

**Deadline**: Until filled – Resumes will be reviewed on a rolling basis

New Mexico Legal Aid is seeking a Paralegal to join its Statewide Housing Stability program. This position will assist with serving eligible clients threatened with loss of their housing, housing subsidies, as well as statewide clinics and outreach.

**Responsibilities**

- Process intakes
- Draft pleadings
- Contact clients
- Support attorneys in preparation for court
- Send referrals to other support service agencies
- Engage in outreach
- Arrange and assist with legal clinics

**Requirements**

-
- Should have or quickly be able to develop expertise in housing and statewide resources available to low-income persons.
- Must be able to effectively use computer technology and remote communications systems, including shared on-line workspaces and web meeting and videoconferencing software.
- Be able to effectively collaborate with staff located in multiple offices.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and build collaborative relationships within the staff and the community served by NMLA.
- This is a statewide position and the candidate must be able to regularly travel.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
