Job Description:

- Hiring for a non-litigation contracts attorney III in the System Contracting department of HHSC
- Collaborate with program managers and procurement professionals on healthcare contracts
- Eligible for telework with potential for fulltime telework from Austin area
- Qualifying organization for Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program

Essential Job Functions:

- Negotiate and draft contracts and solicitation documents in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
- Advise agency staff on contract laws and regulations
- Represent agency in procurement matters, contract negotiations and disputes
- Assist in representing agency in administrative or contested case hearings
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including drafting legal documents and analyzing legislation

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

- Knowledge of contract law, government procurement law, and Texas state agency contracts
- Skill in efficient legal research and conducting research
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and think creatively
- Licensed to practice law in Texas with good standing with State Bar
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and Juris Doctor degree required

- Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
