Attorney - Part Time: Legal Position at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington

Job Summary:

- Provide legal advice and representation in accordance with best practices
- Recruit licensed attorneys in DC and Maryland for pro bono civil law cases
- Develop a pool of attorney mentors to guide less experienced attorneys
- Conduct training sessions for potential volunteers at identified organizations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Interview individuals seeking legal assistance and advise on possible options
- Provide ongoing legal representation, including drafting documents and applications
- Recruit active status DC and Maryland licensed attorneys for pro bono cases in various areas of law
- Develop a pool of attorney mentors to support less experienced attorneys
- Conduct information and training sessions to potential volunteers
- Enhance the visibility of Catholic Charities' Susan D. Mona Center to increase services to low-income Prince George's County residents
- Conduct outreach activities in the community related to legal issues
- Assist with internal and external reporting
- Supervise law student interns and volunteers
- Serve as liaison between program and community partners

Education and Experience:

- Law degree (.)
- Active status member of both DC and Maryland bars
- Completion of Continuing Legal Education may be required
- 2 years of experience in general civil law

Skills and Competencies:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Public speaking experience
- Management and supervision skills
- Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse cultures
