This position is ideal for an attorney with a strong foundation in medical malpractice, insurance defense, or personal injury law, looking to represent healthcare providers and organizations in complex litigation matters. The candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal counsel and defense strategies in medical malpractice cases, requiring excellent legal research, analysis, and writing skills. Candidates must hold membership in the Virginia State Bar.

Duties:

  • Represent healthcare professionals and organizations in medical malpractice lawsuits, defending against claims of negligence.
  • Draft, review, and file legal documents, including motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and provide clients with sound advice.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop effective defense strategies for complex medical malpractice claims.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials as needed, including direct and cross-examinations of witnesses.
  • Advise clients on the legal aspects of malpractice cases, including risk management and case resolutions.
  • Maintain detailed case files, ensuring all documents are properly managed and deadlines are met.

Requirements:

  • Experience in medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, or personal injury litigation (preferred but not required).
  • Strong research, writing, and legal analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with a high degree of organization and attention to detail.
  • Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar or in the process of admission.
  • Experience with medical terminology and healthcare industry practices is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in medical malpractice law and litigation processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional legal research and writing abilities.
