A law firm in Oakland is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record and specific experience handling regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions, with additional expertise in matters involving ERCOT or other ISO/RTOs and organized power markets.

 

Job Details:

  • Handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
  • Manage matters involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs and organized power markets.
  • Advocate before state utility commissions and handle power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related matters.
  • Demonstrate a strong academic record and superior judgment.
  • Work collaboratively with a team and effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Articulate legal strategies and courses of action.

 

Requirements:

Active Bar license in the state.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Experience:

4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience.

 

Skills:

  • Specific experience in handling regulatory and compliance matters before energy regulatory commissions.
  • Expertise in matters involving ERCOT or other ISO/RTOs and organized power markets.
  • Advocacy experience before state utility commissions.
  • Knowledge of power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Superior judgment and the ability to articulate legal strategies.
